DESIGN SERVICES
I offer planning services for construction projects in international contexts. These consist of the creation of an innovative, site-adapted and appropriate concept, the subsequent design planning in variations and the associated implementation planning. The level of detail is determined individually. My clients are rural or urban communities, organizations, private individuals and companies. Depending on the client’s human and financial resources, partnerships may involve several parties. Due to my previous experience on the African continent, this context lends itself as a project location, but may be expanded. Projects are social projects, educational and residential buildings, but also commercial or infrastructural projects. I also offer the planning of interior design and furnishings.
After the planning stage I also offer construction supervision services. This is important to ensure the correct implementation of the planning and compliance with the agreed quality. During the construction phase, planning details are discussed between the architects and the site management.
CONSULTANCY
Before a project can be planned and realised abroad, a thorough analysis and preparation phase is required in order to understand all the circumstances that will influence the design. Here I offer supportive advice so that the building to be planned can be developed in the most site-appropriate way possible. In addition to the actual planning-relevant issues, it is also a matter of dealing, communicating and strategising with all those involved in the planning from different cultures and with different educational backgrounds.
The financing of a project can also play a major role; strategies, e.g. in fundraising, are developed together on a project-specific basis. This counselling is individually arranged to needs and specific projects. The counselling covers both planning and project-related topics.
REPORTS
Following the completion of planning or the construction of a building, an expert opinion may be required. I offer expert reports for intercultural construction projects in countries of the South and in an international context. I work with foundations and organisations that are involved in construction projects abroad and require an external appraisal. The content of the report and any necessary travel to the project location are agreed on an individual basis. This is because the requirements for the report are just as individual as construction projects are per se. Topics can be covered here from planning through to completion of construction.
I also assess the design of the building in terms of its material and climatic suitability and appropriateness for the location. I provide assessments and opinions with an experienced eye. In order to place the results of the report in the correct overall context, it is necessary to exchange ideas with all those involved in the design, planning, construction and utilisation. With the help of the reports, clients can better understand their construction projects and adapt and improve future projects in line with the results.
WORKSHOPS
I offer workshops for non-university institutions, such as organisations and companies, but also construction-related associations or schools. The contents of the workshops are planning and construction-related topics, which are organised in an intercultural and international context. Various workshop units can be booked depending on requirements. The workshops can take place both in German institutions and abroad in connection with the project sites. The length and content of the workshop units are individually arranged.
Presentations
I offer to share my experience and knowledge by giving lectures on selected topics about my previous design and construction projects. The format (face-to-face or digital), length and content of the presentation can be individually arranged.
